Linux Dairy Council

Working to make Linux the most popular operating system in the world!

About

What is the Linux Dairy Council all about?

In the United States, dairy farmers decided to put their competitive differences aside to get to the business of selling milk products to the masses. Alone each farm has a very limited marketing resources. Together they have agreed to a very successful message: “Got Milk?”

The Linux community can and will do that once we put our competitive differences aside to work on marketing Linux.

Dairy has nothing to do with what we will do at the Linux Dairy Council. It is just a working name for now.

Who can participate in the Linux Dairy Council?

Regardless of background or Linux distribution, all are welcome if you are serious about marketing Linux as a high quality operating system. You do not need to work for a Linux company but you do need to want Linux to rock. For now we have a mailing list at http://groups.google.com/group/linux-dairy-council

How will the Linux Dairy Council launch an effective marketing campaign in a world where non-Linux technology companies have more money than all of the Linux distributors?

It does not matter how much you spend on a marketing campaign if your audience does not buy the message. There are reports that Windows 7 marketing attempts are very poorly received.

Instead, we will work on fine tuning the message and the distribution message. That way, when we spend money it will return plenty of business for those who invest. That is the whole point of marketing, right?
